Last Blog I talked about our giants. I want to continue with that.
Sa 17:40 ¶ And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
O.k. could you by reading this verse say Hey, David didn’t have faith that God would take care of Goliath? Do you think David thought he would miss the first time? No, I don’t believe you could say that. David knew that God was going to take care of Goliath with the first stone. The other stones were for Goliath’s four brothers. Just in case they came to seek revenge on David.
See sometimes when we face those giants in our lives they don’t just come one at a time. Sometimes they have brothers. I know in my own life it seems like when one problem comes they all seem to pile up. But, try and remember this God can take care of each problem. Look at David and how he defeated the giant. One stone and if the brothers came each one stone at a time. We just have to give them to God and leave it with God. What we tend to do is give it to God and then take it back. Leave it with God and He will defeat it!

This past week we as a family have had some challenges, or could I say some giants to deal with. I know we have all faced them from time to time. Sometimes these giants tend to make us do one of two things pull us closer to God or pull us away from God. If we don’t face our giants they tend to keep coming back . I think of the book of 1 Samuel 17.
1Sa 17:22 And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.
1Sa 17:23 And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
1Sa 17:24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.
1Sa 17:25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.
1Sa 17:26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
1Sa 17:27 And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
1Sa 17:28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
1Sa 17:29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
1Sa 17:30 And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.
1Sa 17:31 ¶ And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.
1Sa 17:32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
1Sa 17:33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
1Sa 17:34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
1Sa 17:35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
1Sa 17:36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
1Sa 17:37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
1Sa 17:38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
1Sa 17:39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

1Sa 17:42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
1Sa 17:43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
1Sa 17:44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
1Sa 17:45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
1Sa 17:46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
1Sa 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.
1Sa 17:48 ¶ And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
1Sa 17:49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
1Sa 17:50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
1Sa 17:51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
David gave the Giant to the Lord. Re-read verse 47. I like that “the battle is the Lord’s”. That is what we need to do also. We see thru out our Bible statements from the Lord letting us know He is with us. So the next time a giant comes and they will, remember we are not facing them alone!
This blog is a little long but that’s o.k.. Next blog I am still going to talk about this also. Just because I have more to say on this passage and topic.

When I taught Sunday school this week. I was telling the kids about my vacation. I told them about the church services that I attended. Also, the messages I heard. I think it is good for them to hear that. Teaches them even though you go on vacation you don’t go on vacation from being in church. Isn’t it something when people plan vacation they don’t plan on going to church. I am thankful God doesn’t take a vacation from me.
Anyway, I talked about the mid-week service that we attended. He talked about How Much of you does God have? Then I did an object lesson with them. We drew a big circle then I had the kids tell me about one of their school days. We broke their day into percentages on the circle. (Hope I explained that o.k.) . Then we took a look at it and I asked them what was wrong or missing with this circle. They could see right away they did not have enough time with God. I think it really a great object lesson.
Then we talked a little more then got to our Sunday school lesson. Sometimes we get off track from the lesson (we are in Exodus). But that’s o.k. because sometimes you just know you are having an impact on talking about something that you did or came up in their week or yours. Use every opportunity to teach them a Bible truth!

I love to read! I like to read fiction and non-fiction. Though I have to say I read more fiction then non-fiction. I read one non-fiction book which is my favorite to read and we know the answer to that, the Bible of course. I just finished a book titled the Christmas Dog. Yes, I know it isn’t Christmas! Anyway, the book had sort of a theme that you could see. At least that is what came across to me.
Now, I just deleted a paragraph. I was telling you the characters of the book. But then if you knew all that you might not read it if you wanted to. So delete I did. What I thought came across in the book was how we judge sometimes to quickly other people. Then when we judge so quickly we sometimes judge wrongly. Then it stays on our minds and we don’t change our judging easy if we are wrong. Then sometimes we share that judging with a friend and then they judge wrongly also. Before you know it everyone is judging that person. In this book that is basically what happened and they were wrong. It took a dog to show that they were so wrong. We need to be careful in our judging of others. I am not saying not to judge because The Bible tells us to judge. But be careful that you judge on facts and not what others say or what you think it might be. Notice I used the word might be. We can all think of situations that appear one way so we judge that and then find out we were wrong.
Now you can also look at a person and make a judgment call right. We can all think of situations with that also. What I am saying is we just have to be careful.

I haven't forgotten about blogging! Got back from vacation then I had computer problems. I found this poem thought it was interesting. The next blog I promise it will be something I write.

So, put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your families and your relationships in God's hands. Because... It depends on whose hands it's in.

I’m back! We were on vacation. So I thought I would blog about it. We left on a Sunday afternoon and headed to Omaha. We stopped in time for their evening church services. We also stayed at their prophet’s chamber. For the ones that don’t know what that is, a prophet chamber is a place a Pastor’s family or a Missionary family can spend the night in. It can be a room or an apartment or house. It is truly a blessing!
Then the next day we headed to Oklahoma City to see our son. He moved in Feb. to go down there. He lives in a nice place. The outside of the place almost looked like a castle. I did the Mom thing and took him to Wal-Mart and stocked his kitchen with food. We then just visited. It was to short of time!
Then a couple of days later we were on the road and headed to a place in Arkansas. We stayed in a prophet’s chamber that was a cute cabin. It was really nice. It was on the churches property. We took in their mid-week service. The message was really good. He asked a question what percentage of your day do you give God?
After it was over we went back to the prophet’s chamber. Then someone knocked and asked if we want to go out to eat. So we went with them and had a great time of fellowship. It is something when we are a part of the family of God that you can fellowship so easy with someone that you never met that also is part of the family of God.
Then the next day we headed out to Mississippi. That is where some of my husband’s family lives. We got there on Thurs. afternoon. We stayed with my husband’s cousin and her husband. We sure enjoyed the fellowship time there. We stayed there till Sat. morning! Are you tired yet? By this time I was road weary.
Then we drove another 6 hours and stopped. We stayed at a hotel that had a great whirlpool. We went to church in that city. It was a nice church started I think they said 5 years. Then we drove some more and stopped at another hotel. Then we attended evening church there. Then woke the next morning and finished up the trip.
We had a nice time. But it was too much driving and not enough visiting. My husband and myself are different in planning vacations. He likes to drive a lot and go everywhere. Myself I would like to go one place and relax. So I think the next vacation I should get to pick.
